Winter Wearable

Hope everyone’s turkey day was fabulous!  I spent a lot of time cooking, eating, laughing, and enjoying friends and family.  Now, I’m breaking out the Christmas decorations, holiday music, and cookie recipes!

When the weather is cold and Christmas is just around the corner, I know it’s time for layering.  I took this light t-shirt dress and made it winter wearable simply by adding a cardigan, leggings, and boots!

Back by popular demand… my closet!

With 96% voting yes, it was definitely time for a closet revisit.  So - as promised… an update to my closet!  Not a lot of changes, but hopefully you’ll enjoy the “up close and personal” review!

My closet is located right off the side of our master bedroom.  My boyfriend’s closet is in the spare bedroom…

And yes, though I wish it was bigger (much envy for Sex & the City closets), it is one of my favorites places in my home.  My boyfriend lovingly put up several of the fabulous racks (yes, the original racks collapsed with all my clothes when we first moved in…), so it reminds me of him as well  :)

Belted Blue

Back to color today!  I think I just get in more of a neutral mood come fall time, and have been wearing more grays, etc… of late – so the bright blue was definitely called for.

A super easy way to “spruce up” a normal dress?  Add a belt & a fun cardigan!  Not only are the changes quick and easy, but these simple changes are done with items that everyone has in their closets!

Anniversary Day

It’s anniversary day!  Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I celebrated his grandparents’ 54th year wedding anniversary (how fabulous is that?!?), and this week is my boyfriend and my 5 year anniversary.  No it’s not a wedding anniversary…, but I think we’re doing pretty damn good – ring or no ring.  I’m a very lucky woman, and he is definitely a very lucky man  ;)

As for the clothes – I wanted to wear something that was special, but not too dressy or “notice me”.  I love this silk dress and it feels like a nightgown, so all I had to do was add a few accessories to finish the look and I was ready to go.

Tulip Dress

Dress: Cincinnati Swapped!  Belt: Macy’s.  Bracelet: Forever XXI.

I love the pretty little pearls on the collar of this dress, and the puffy little “tulip” cap sleeves (the hem of the dress reminds me of a tulip too).  What a great swap find!!  It’s a bit long, so I could see how it wouldn’t be a fit for everyone, but it works for me!  It’s also sheer, so you have to wear something underneath; I found a simple black dress worked perfectly.

I continue my “detail love” as normal.  At first glance this look may be just a dress and a sweater, but at second glance you hopefully notice the colorful blue, silver, and green bracelets, the contrast of the gray belt against the black ruffles, and the snakeskin “web” detailing of the shoes. 

I adore these shoes.  I think they’re really fun for work because the heel is not too high / skinny, yet they have such fun detail and uniqueness to them.

As luck would have it, I got caught in the rain for a short while - thus, my shoes were caught in the rain - but thankfully they remained unharmed and will live to be worn another day (many days!).

A little dressy

Some may tell me these colors don’t “go”, but I challenge them and say that they do!  :)

I like to bring fun color and a bit of pattern into outfits whenever I can, and overall I think the blend worked as the main focus was still on the green dress. 

This belt was a stellar find for $1 while I was in Hilton Head.  It’s a little old-school, but I think maybe that’s why I like it…  LOL

Dress for all occasions

I love this dress because it works as an event dress, happy hour / cocktail dress, or even a work dress.  Today it served me as both a work and a happy hour dress!  This dress is also very comfortable and flattering with a more fitted silhouette.  I added the color belt and of course a fun sexy pair of shoes.  The belt and shoes actually matched almost identically, but for some reason the picture shoes them as a bit different.  Ah well – you get the gist  :)

Fabulous gift from fabulous friends

I can’t believe I actually had a smile on my face this morning, but I did, and there it is!  This was my Monday morning face-the-music outfit after a crazy weekend of work issues.  Thankfully, everything turned out and the issue was resolved.  I’m so lucky to have supportive people in my life, and I definitely think this cinches it that next year my birthday will be disaster-free!

This silver leaf belt was a birthday gift to me from my fabulous friend Rachel.  I love it!  Clearly, she gets my style as this belt is quite similar to my other favorite belt gifted to me by another fabulous fashionista friend, Kasmira!

 

Dress it up!

This dress has a great sweetheart neckline with ruffle detailing and an empire waist, but I always think it needs a belt!  This pink belt is one of my favorites and I think it added the perfect touch.  I continued the color with blue jeweled necklace, ring, and earrings.

Print Dress Remix

Print can often be daunting to mix and match, particularly all over print.  It may feel like there is so much going on that you don’t want to overwhelm by adding more too it.  That said – I think there are plenty of ways to mix and match with print and am teaching myself to live this lesson through this very dress!

I’ve definitely changed things up a bit since when I first started wearing this dress.  I still love it by itself, but have had a bit more fun with it the last year or so mixing it up in a new light.
