Nicole Richie attended Kate Hudson's huge Halloween party on Saturday night, October 30 in Pacific Palisades, California.
Dressed in a fur coat, Nicole had fun with a group of friends and her fiance, Joel Madden (dressed up as Dr. Mcsqueemy).

My Favorites

As we near the end of the year, I always like to look back through my “fashion diary” and find my favorite outfits for the year.  I was thinking I may even print them out and post the pics in my closet for inspiration (ps. updated closet post coming next!!). 

It was only after I downloaded the pics in this post that I realized all my fave looks were all skirts / dresses / or tunics.  I guess I shouldn’t be surprised… I’m just not a pants type of gal!

Preppy Vest

Top & Vest: Express.  Pants: NY&Co.  Pumps: Nina. 

I always feel very “business-y” in a vest.  Maybe because it reminds me of the TV shows of my youth that represented all the smart preppy kids (soon to be business people) in vests.  Remember Jessie Spano from Saved by the Bell?  Look – she’s even wearing a very fashionable headband below!

Equestrian Work Wear?

Are you a fan of equestrian fashion?

I personally adore it and appreciate the way it can be preppy or edge depending on the items chosen.

That said, I’ve never thought of incorporating it into my work wardrobe until today.  I think the reason I specifically have never worn these boots to work is that I find them most flattering with a shorter skirt or dress (since the boot is flat). 

For whatever reason, I changed my mind today and really liked them with this fitted khaki pencil skirt.  One change I made mid-day was to tuck in the oxford top.  I thought that change brought more length to the leg line, which also helps when not wearing heels to give that silhouette help.

In Nicole's closet: Winter Kate

On October 8 Miss Richie was at Holt Renfrew Calgary in Canada to promote her lines, House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate.
She wore a self designed pair of silk pants from her Winter Kate fall 2010 collection.
These wide-leg, flowy pants are trimmed with a wide satin stripe along the side seams.
With her "Drake" pants Nicole wore a Winter Kate silk vest.

Back to color today!  I think I just get in more of a neutral mood come fall time, and have been wearing more grays, etc… of late – so the bright blue was definitely called for.

A super easy way to “spruce up” a normal dress?  Add a belt & a fun cardigan!  Not only are the changes quick and easy, but these simple changes are done with items that everyone has in their closets!

Decorating myself in orange

Nothing fancy today, but I did want to show off my colorful fall trench.  I don’t wear a lot of orange, but somehow this combination just seems to work.

I’ve been quite busy lately with work (normal), golf (new & fun!), and (most recently) redecorating!  The change of seasons pushes me not only to update / clean out my wardrobe, but to update / clean out my interior space as well.
